July 27 2024 The Alpine Cowboys defeated the Pecos Bills 11-3 at Kokernot Field, scoring in five of their six offensive innings. Alpine built a 4-0 lead through two innings, answered Pecos’ two-run third with four runs in the fourth and added three more in the fifth to take an 11-3 advantage into the final two innings.
Alpine scored 11 runs on five hits and drew 15 walks.
Drake Angeron scored three times and had a hit with two walks, while K. Wilson scored three runs, drove in one and walked three times. K. Rodriguez and J. Medina each had two RBIs and three walks, and
Sean Becker added two RBIs. Pecos collected seven hits, led by S. Polanco’s two hits. T. Taufahema and
Luke Smith each drove in a run.
Spencer Persky was credited with the win for Alpine. The Cowboys used six pitchers and held Pecos to three runs while striking out 10.
Kacey Cheek worked two scoreless innings with three strikeouts, and
Dieterich Guertzgen,
Jesse Garcia and
Jonathan Fleckenstein each added a scoreless inning.
George Mills took the loss for Pecos after allowing eight earned runs in four innings with 12 walks and five strikeouts.
