July 20 2024 The Santa Fe Fuego held off the Pecos Bills 12-11 in a high-scoring game at Fort Marcy Park. Santa Fe collected 15 hits and overcame Pecos’ 18-hit attack, scoring the go-ahead runs in the later innings after the teams were tied 10-10 entering the seventh.
Pecos scored three runs in the first inning and added three more in the fourth and sixth to build a 9-5 lead. Santa Fe answered with three runs in the third and two in the sixth before taking control with three runs in the seventh and two in the eighth. Pecos scored once in each of those innings but could not complete the comeback.
Jorge Peralta led Pecos with four hits, three runs, three RBI and two home runs. J. Rodriguez added three hits, two RBI and a home run, while D. Maduro hit two home runs and drove in two runs. Santa Fe’s Dominic Scotti went 4-for-5 with two RBI, and Rodney Scarver had two hits, two runs, one RBI and two walks. Jeremy DiBartolomeo, Cameron Phillips and C. Evans each hit a home run and drove in two runs.
Greg Salazar earned the win for Santa Fe with a complete game, allowing 18 hits and 11 runs, seven earned, while striking out seven and walking two. Pecos starter Saul Arias worked six innings and allowed 10 hits and seven earned runs with eight strikeouts. Phillip Jones took the loss after recording one out in relief.
