May 29 2024 The Alpine Cowboys defeated the Pecos Bills 12-1 at Kokernot Field, using a 17-hit attack and a five-run sixth inning to pull away. Alpine scored in the first, fourth and fifth innings before adding five runs in the sixth, two in the seventh and one in the eighth. Pecos scored its lone run in the eighth and finished with five hits.
Drew Bayard went 2-for-5 with a double and three RBI for Alpine.
Josh Rego also drove in three runs while going 2-for-5 with a double and a triple.
James Prockish contributed two hits, a double, two RBI and three walks, while
Taylor Darden,
Drake Angeron and
John Tuttle each had two hits. Alpine drew 10 walks overall.
Humberto Vela earned the win after holding Pecos scoreless on four hits over five innings while striking out eight.
Dom Spinoso and
Kyle Petri each added a scoreless inning with three strikeouts, and T. Legere completed the game with two innings. Pecos starter
Armando Ceballo took the loss after allowing four runs, three earned, on nine hits in five innings.
Alpine finished without an error, while the Bills committed two errors. Pecos center fielder
Luke Smith led the Bills with two hits and a walk.
